BookWorm Ann's SpaceSTUDY AND EXERCISE ROOMCalling this room a "study and exercise room" makes me sound really energetic and intelligent or something, huh? Well, I never claimed to be honest.
Love, love, love the bright yellow - as suggested and designed and painted by Forest Johnson (see friends) it gives the whole room a bright and energetic feel - desperately needed when I'm slogging it out on the stairmaster or actually working at the desk, both of which I probably should do a heck of a lot more often, lol.
Love the light on the ceiling, too - installed by Forest and an electrician (name unknown) it also makes the yellow bright and makes the dark wood pop.
THE END.
MAIN BEDROOMThis is the main bedroom (or master bedroom or whatever you call the bedroom where the homeowner snoozes.)
Before the walls were kind of a creamy white, which blended in with the bedspread and curtain, and which (unknown to me) kind of kept me awake at night. Forest Johnson, painted it brown and put the border or molding around the ceiling (his ideas-click friends and give him a buzz for cool painting ideas or painting or both) and now the bedspread, wicker furniture and curtain stand out, and now I sleep like a baby or a shepard (counting sheep) or hibernating bear or whatever other kind of creature sleeps like it has brown walls, unless I am under mega-stress or something that keeps me awake - my walls no longer do.
Another plus is that the bathroom didn't have to be painted, since the walls matched the new brown of my bedroom.
I originally wouldn't have chosen brown walls, so I'm delighted they were chosen for me, since I like them so much.
The only thing that bums me out now is the Colts!
THE END. THE BATHROOMThe Before Bathroom: Faded blue and in some places chipping wallpaper, no brown border near the ceiling, boooooring.
The After Bathroom: Vibrant yellow walls, deep, rich brown border near the ceiling, and blue tile that now stands out.
My bathroom should be as proud as one of those plastic surgery extreme makeover candidates on tv. It is vibrant, alive, and if it could move it would be ready to travel and date other bathrooms. (But unfortunately for it, although fortunately for me, it ain't leaving this house!)
THE END. DOWN THE HALLi originally told Forest Johnson I would never ever ever live with green, especially a darker green, and he would paint my hall green when hell freezes over.
When, far as I know hell's still sizzling hot, but my hall is green and also sizzles. Something about this green brought out the sparkle in the carpet (which came with the house but looked kind of blah when the walls were white), the richness of the brown wood, and the beauty of the borders near the ceiling, which he also installed. The green goes with the yellow in the bathroom and study/exercise room, and the brown of both bedrooms.
All this eating my words is going to kill my diet.
THE END. PARLORYupper, I have a "parlor" - I'd always called this the "front room" or the "living room" but I stand corrected.
I love it! It was pretty before - kind of a pale blue - so I was hesitant to have it painted, but the previous color did not go with the rest of the house, so I gave in. And am delighted I did! This yellow (autumn yellow, not pale or lemon) goes with the autumn colors of the rest of the house, and makes the brown wood pop.
Plus, the color matches my Scottie (see blanket). When Forest Johnson (see friends) showed me colors for the room, that was the main requirement! Madeline Bish and Lillian Hewitt made this for me, and he is incredibly cute. (Their sister, Hazel Hewitt, was one of my favorite teachers - fifth grade, many, many, many moons ago.)
The room is now bright and riveting - its amazing how color can breathe new life into a house.
THE END.
